Terminal 21

Still in Bangkok, currently staying at a hostel called Rang Kha Mhin Homestay, last night Luke and I (yes it's Courtney finally writing a blog post!) were in a room with two strangers, one of which was a cool guy from Singapore, and one of which was an odd ginger girl from the Netherlands. The four 'beds' (thin mattresses on a wooden block) are very close together, and despite drawing the curtain for some privacy, Ginger Spice opened it in the night, so I woke up with my face in hers, listening to Luke snore while she looked very angry.

This morning (ok maybe this afternoon) we went for breakfast in the cafe in our hostel. All the food is organic and we had a full English (minus bacon) which was amazing because it had beans.

After a bit of online research, I discovered that we were a 20 minute taxi ride away from Terminal 21, a huge shopping centre designed to feel like an airport, each floor decorated as a different city. We started in San Francisco.

Here we discovered a restaurant with amazing views of the surroundings (including Soi Cowboy... Just google it) and sat down to have lunch.

After lunch, we headed down the escalator to the next city, making a big gold friend on the way.

There were hundreds of small shops in alleys decorated like the cities.

In London, we went to the toilet, which was also decorated to fit the theme, with crazily futuristic toilets.

Luke walked out of the toilets with scarlet cheeks, asking 'Courtney, what does bidet mean?' (Except he pronounced it as 'bid-it') so I knew which buttons he had been pressing!

In Tokyo, Luke treated us to peanut butter cookies which were absolutely amazing, and we posed like the tourists that we are next to a huge lucky cat.

Rome was equally as amazing- again the theme carried on through to the toilets.

Also I had to have a touristy photo next to the Vespa (just for you Dad!)

After leaving Terminal 21, we walked over the bridge to get a taxi back to the hostel.

We were in need of a nap after all the walking we did today, but we just went out for dinner to a restaurant on Rambuttri Alley, complete with a jug of Strawberry Daquiri between us. Tomorrow we need to check out of the hostel, and get to the airport in the evening ready for our flight tomorrow morning. We are both looking forward to a relaxing week in the resort on Koh Samui after 4 weeks of waking up at 6am!

Back in Bangkok

On Friday we arrived in Bangkok after a disgustingly sweaty mini can ride from Petchaburi to Bkk.

We spent the first two days with Brandon (USA) who has now left for Malaysia, Sean (IRE) who has now left for Laos, and Mint and Mind (Thai) who have now gone back home in Bangkok...

On Friday we went to Siam Square to go round the shopping centre...

Then we made our way to an ice cream bakery called Creamery, which served hot cakes and ice cream. I had a dank hot brownie and passion fruit ice cream...

On Saturday we found a nice family run restaurant to eat at, called Joy Luck Club...

Then we said goodbye to Sean...

Then Courtney became a celebrity...

Almost time to leave the Animal Sanctuary

In two days time (Friday 9th) we will depart from the WFFT sanctuary at 9am to go to Bangkok for a few days before flying out to Koh Samui on Tuesday 13th.
Me, Courtney and Brandon (American friend) are getting a bus from the village to Bangkok which will take around 4 hours, but it only costs £4 each. We are all staying at a hostel on Soi Thani (near Khao San), where we will meet Sean (Irish friend) who was also at the sanctuary with us; also we are going to meet up with Mint and Mind (Thai friends) who live in Bangkok! Excited!

We are glad to leave the centre as we are both exhausted. 4 weeks of getting up at 6am everyday has finally caught up on us. It's been a great experience, one that neither us will ever forget. We have made great friends along the way, most of whole we will see again along our travels!

My foot is finally better again now. It has taken 5 days for it to heal but I am no longer a cripple anymore!

We will be staying in Koh Samui until January 18th...

Happy New Year! 2015!

HAPPY NEW YEAR from Thailand!

Last night everybody from the centre came to Cha Am to celebrate the new year. We ended up on the beach at Cha Am at 12 o'clock and it was amazing! Fireworks being shot from all directions, lanterns being lit and loads of people gathered at the sea front, it's a moment we will both never forget!

All those tiny lights in the sky above are lanterns! It was an awesome sight to see.

Unfortunately today we were both working at the centre again, although we do have a day off tomorrow!

I haven't been able to work today because I have an injured foot. I have found out that I am allergic to the glue used on plasters. I have been using the plasters for the past week and my cuts haven't been getting better, little did I know I was making it worse by worsening the allergic reaction by using more plasters! Hopefully it should be healed up in 3/4 days...
