Our stay at Hervey Bay

Two days ago we checked-in to our lakeside cabin at the Santcuary Lakes Fauna Retreat resort in Hervey Bay. We were so happy with our accommodation; we had our own kitchen, we had a huge lake on our doorstep (complete with turtles, frogs, fish, red billed swans and ducks) and even a little balcony with a table and chairs which we often used to drink a cup of tea on while watching the pond life.

On our first day when we checked in, it was around 2pm; as we have learnt that nobody goes out from 1am-4pm because of the heat, we acted like a local and sat inside with the air-con on full blast... At around 5 we took a trip down to Woolworths and bought some stuff for the next few days. We bought a load of ingredients so that I could cook a meal for us the next evening.

In the morning we had a lie in and I cooked sausage and bean sandwiches and we ate out on our balcony.

Around 5ish when the weather had cooled down a bit more we walked down to the botanical gardens down the road and had a little meander round the lake; as I was being dived bombed by mosquitoes we thought it best we make a quick get away... However it was a nice place, Courtney was a bit paranoid as there were huge spider webs hanging from the trees. And we found some more turtles!

After surviving an attack from winger insects bombarding us we walked down to the sea front and had a stroll along the beach as the sun was setting.

These strange patterns made in the sand were so weird! We think they're made by something digging down into the sand but we aren't sure...

Following this we headed back to the cabin and I cooked Bruschetta with a avocado and sautéed Aubergine for starter and then a pumpkin and tomato pasta with mince beef for main.

Did not look very appealing but tasted "absolutely dank"!

At the moment we are waiting for our bus to Brisbane. It comes at 1.45pm and it's currently 11.20am so we have a bit of time to kill. In Brisbane we will be meeting our frienda Gemma who is going to give us a little tour of the city and take us to Eat Street! We will be going to a theme park called Dreamworld on Monday, which is supposed to be the best theme park in Australia! Will keep you updated. (Courtney's turn to blog next so get ready for some entertaining recital of events!)
