Arrival in Sangkhlaburi

We left Kanchanaburi today at 10am to get on a 6 hour coach journey to Sangkhlaburi.

On the way we stopped off at Hellfire Pass, a world war 2 railway system built through mountains creating valleys between rock faces - the building of the system took 20 months and the lives of 200,000 prisoners of war. Unfortunately me and Courtney didn't go all the way down to the main railway system because it was really really hot and Courtney felt a bit ill, but we still had a nice walk through the bamboo...

Thankfully Courtney feels ok now :-)

After this stop we then then had a 3 hour sweaty coach journey through the hills into Sangkhlaburi. We arrived here at 5.00pm local time.

It's a small town, known as the Town of Dpgs because there are at least 5 strays on each road you walk down- but we haven't come across any viscous ones yet which is good. Tonight we are going to have food at the restaurant where we are staying. Tomorrow we have an orientation and then some free time.
